[Everything was going so well. She was exhausted, bruised, scratched up, filthy, and excited as hell about her first "tour" as a would-be hero. All she could think about first, though, was checking in on Ed, whom she hadn't seen all Port. When she saw his door and room changed back to Barge standard, she just stood there a while, feeling herself slowly going numb inside.]

[After showering and changing mechanically and grabbing a four hour nap, Wanda did her best to stay in her room and keep her grief as hidden as possible. But every damn thing reminded her of him at the moment and finally she had to get out. She brought Fozzie, who was gamely on Teddy Bear Duty despite his giant size and stayed right next to her the whole time.]

[So now she's out by the back of the greenhouse complex, near what's left of the compost heap, back against the wall and her head on the patient dog's shoulder. Every once in a while he cranes his neck to peer at her and whines softly. She's mostly stopped crying, and instead is in the "Goddamn it, Barge," stage, scowling thoughtfully. She really liked him, and now that he's gone she's just trying to get back to a place where she can function.]

[Fozzie shifts nervously in his presence and she lifts her head from his fur. She sees Arthas walking away, and opens her mouth to say something. But...then she sighs and lowers her head again.]

{Castiel is delivering some compost. He smells like rotting flowers. He dumps the compost on the pile and puts the bag down, then studies her.]

Did something happened in the Port?

No, Port was great. Got to work with Batman. [She wipes her face as Fozzie wags his way over to say hello.]

It's a stupid mortal teenage girl thing, Castiel. Had a guy in my life who was really pretty great, and now he's...gone.

[trenchcoatedly]

[He gives Fozzie a pat on the head.]

Mortal teenage girls are not the only creatures in the universe that experience loss.

I know, it's just that we have a certain way of dealing with it. You know, cry a few buckets, feel like the world is ending for a little while, then get our asses up and move on.

I see.

What stage of this process are you on? I can assure you the world isn't ending.

[ She didn't hear anything from her inmate after they got back, so she figured she may as well check in. Only Wanda wasn't in at all. Asking around, it wasn't hard to find her. She pokes her head around some foliage. ]

[Wanda hastily wipes her face while Fozzie happybarks and trots over.] Um. [sniffle.] Hi. Sorry I didn't make the last check in. I kinda had a shock when I came back.

Don't worry about it.

[ She moves a little closer, hesitantly. ]

You wanna talk about it?

[Wanda looks kind of embarrassed.] It's...a typical Barge thing I guess. My boyfriend disappeared. So, I'm done crying it out and now I gotta figure out if I can pull myself together by dinner shift.

[ She takes a seat next to her inmate and crosses her ankles. ]

Did he get a chance to say goodbye?

[Charles hadn't gone into port, and now he felt sort of guilty about it. While he did know logically that what he'd said to Arthur was true - namely, they didn't know what port would be like and therefore had no idea they could have been needed until it was too late - it still bothered him to know that he could have been helpful, but hadn't been, and so he was a little troubled himself.

He'd come up to the deck really just looking for some fresh air, and was surprised to see Wanda tucked largely out of the way with her dog, looking fairly miserable and upset.]

Are you alright?

...eventually. [She wipes her face and has trouble with eye contact. Psychically she has a black cloud over her head.]

My boyfriend vanished off the Barge.

[Oh. Well. That makes sense.]

I'm sorry. Did you just find out?

[scarlet_discord]

Yeah. And better out than in with me. Storing up my emotions only means I'll blow big later. Bad idea; very bad. Part of what landed me here in the first place. [She wipes her face. Fozzie plops himself next to Charles and does his best to look winsome and pettable.]

He was one of the good ones. I hope somehow I'll see him again.

[He nods in something like approval, glad she has the emotional maturity to know that. He reaches down to give Fozzie some affection, scratching his ears.]

I'm certain you will, one way or another.

[ She'd caught sight of Ed's door on the way back to her own place and had a good sense of what it was about to mean for Wanda, so she left a message after a couple hours' sleep. ]

Come show me something I've never seen.

What do you want to see? I'm a little busy mourning losing my fucking boyfriend right now. At least this one didn't kidnap me first.

[Hoffman has been avoiding people as a whole. On the one hand, he fell overboard and was living with several months of the downfall of a city. On the other, he'd been happy, he'd been doing his job, he had been home.

It was hard adjusting. so when he spotted Wanda he didn't say anything. Instead he took a seat several feet away and nodded to her. Thinking. Calmly.]

[Fozzie wanders up to say hello, fanning his tail. Wanda takes a minute to compose herself before straightening and offering a tight little smile.] Hey.

Hey kiddo.

[Hoffman reaches down] Can I pet your dog?

Yeah, sure, go ahead. His name's Fozzie Bear.

[Fozzie makes little "orr" "orr" "orr" noises and lolls his tongue.]

How you holdin' up after that?
